Our philosophy is to educate students in a safe, positive environment where technique is learned and self awareness and confidence is gained.
Safe, Child-Centered Environment
All elements of Spotlight On Dance’s facilities and offerings are designed to maximize a students ability to develop the skills needed to become strong, confident dancers. Student-teacher ratios are maintained at an optimum level to ensure individual attention is always available. Classes are easily observable from our waiting room.
Enriching, Age-Appropriate Curriculum
Whether you’re five or fifty, we have a class designed for you. Do you want Jazz,Tap, Ballet, Hip-Hop? We structure our classes so that students have fun while learning correct dance technique. Come watch our classes, or take a free introductory class and you’ll see what we mean!
Enhanced Concentration & Coordination
We believe that anyone can benefit from practicing disciplines which demand a combination of physical and mental training. To us, martial arts, team and individual sports, music and dance are all in the same category. All assist in the development of self-discipline, respect for others, goal setting, appreciation for the learning process and self-confidence. Key components of a happy, fulfilling life.
New Friends, Lots of Fun
After a day at school or work, our students often come into class needing a respite from the demands of the day’s routine. All through the ages, dance has provided a way to connect socially, laugh and have a great time.
Improved Fitness and Health
Developing a habit of physical activity at an early age can help prevent health problems associated with inactivity as children move to their teen and adult years. Also, many adults find dance to be a more sustainable exercise activity than alternatives. Simply put, DANCE IS FUN!
Qualified, Nurturing Staff
Without great dance teachers, nothing else matters. Spotlight On Dance Director, Jennifer Barden, and her Senior Faculty personally supervise all instruction at the school. Teachers are hand-picked by Ms. Barden for superior teaching skills in their specific area(s) of dance. For those interested in teaching dance some day, we also have a highly sought after student teacher program.
Our Philosophy…
Kids
Spotlight On Dance is committed to providing high quality dance classes to enhance the overall development of children. Students are involved in a safe, enriched, child-centered environment that provides them the opportunity to explore dance with a qualified, nuturing staff.
We encourage our young dancers to develop a positive self-image. When children feel good about themselves, they are free to learn and grow. Both our preschool and school-age programs are designed with these principals in mind as well as encouraging the development of a passion for the art of dance.
We are able to assure quality dance training throught the dedication of our qualified staff. Our teachers are life-long learners who continue to educate themselves through dance teacher training schools, professional workshops and other continuing education opportunities.
Adults
Many of our students are dancers that have been out of school for some time.
Most are people who, having spent years chasing careers and/or children, have decided to finally do something they always wanted to... Some are looking for a means of exercise that holds more potential for development and growth than aerobics or the nautilus circuit.
As a percentage of our student population, our adult dance population is growing at a faster rate today than any other. We have many dancers that have started in their forties, fifties and sixties and found in dance a means of expression, and growth that offers as a byproduct, increased fitness and energy.
