General Policies
Classes: Students should arrive early so that the instructor can start class on time. It is also important that the students are dressed and ready to participate in all warm-up exercises to prevent injury.
Attendance: Students are expected to come to class regularly and on time. If, for some reason, you wish to withdraw from a class, written notification is required. Please notify the office in advance when a student must miss a lesson due to illness, vacation or other compelling reason.
Drop off/Pick Up: Spotlight On Dance cannot be responsible for students after class is dismissed. We ask that you be prompt when picking up your children after class in order to avoid any unsafe situations.
Monday Holiday: With the exception of Christmas and New Year, we do not observe Monday holidays during the dance year.
Snow Cancellation: In case of inclement weather, cancellation notices will be available, on the web site (www.spotlightondance.com) and on our voice messaging system (802-865-7626).
Absences: No refunds will be given due to missed lessons or lessons dropped during current month. In the event of prolonged illness or injury, please contact the office for arrangements.
Valuables: Spotlight On Dance staff is not responsible for lost or misplaced personal property. A lost and found area is in the dressing room, any items unclaimed at the end of the season will be donated to a local charity.
Performances: A spring performance is held at the end of the dance season in early June each year in both Middlebury and Burlington. Nominal admission is charged to cover recital expenses. Costumes are required and run approximately $40 - $50 each (teen and adult costumes may be slightly higher). A deposit of $25.00 per costume will be required with your January payment. The balance is due in full when the costumes are delivered. There will be no refund for costumes after they are ordered. Videos and flash photography is prohibited at the recital because of the danger to performers. Recitals will be professionally videotaped and available for purchase. Flash photography and videos may be taken at dress rehearsals as the lighting used at rehearsals mitigates the danger to dancers.
Dance Attire: Any style or color dancewear, leotard, tights, etc. should be worn to dance class. Shelley’s ballet class requires leotard and tights. No street clothes are permitted. Male dancers may wear t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts or sweatpants.
Shoes: We will have used shoes available for purchase at the open houses. Used ballet shoes cost $5.00, tap shoes are $10.00 and Jazz shoes are $15.00.
Class Limits: Dependant on studio size, we limit the number of students per class to insure quality instructions. If a class is full, we will make every effort to place students into an comparable class at a different time slot if possible.
If any class registration is below five (5) students and efforts at alternative placement fails, Spotlight On Dance reserves the right to cancel the class. A refund of all deposits will be given.
Account Status: If an account is more than one month past due, students(s) may not participate in classes until the account is made current or other arrangements are made with the Studio Manager.
