Males & Dance

When I was growing up in Burlington (late sixties), being a male involved in performing arts was a challenge. The stereotypes and predjudices that prevailed at the time were extremely hurtful and destructive.

Fourty years have passed and I've learned from my own children that, although perhaps not quite as bad as it once was, sometimes the stereotypes and prejudices still exist. Studying dance as a male requires tremendous courage and dedication.

At Spotlight On Dance, you will find boys and men taking class because they love to dance. We salute and support them.
